The Early Years..
Steve had his eye on me back when I worked as a barista at the coffee shop in San Anselmo. He would come in with his cycling gear on after a big day of pushing the pedals and he always ordered a regular cup of coffee. Back then - us girls who worked at the coffee shop noticed that it was always the Cute and Nice guys who ordered a regular cup of coffee. And Steve was one of those guys! It's fun knowing that way back then, we were in the same circle, but that it just wasn't our time yet.
Our Story
Back in 2008 I was having dinner at one of the local Pub's in Fairfax. I would stop in after yoga every now and then when I didn't want to cook and sit at the bar. This one particular night Steve was there talking to this girl I kind of knew. She was mostly doing the talking and running off a list of available girls that she knew, and who she thought he might be interested in. I perked up a little making a mental note and remember being a little taken back that she didn't introduce us right then. And then towards the end of my meal we did in fact get introduced and talked a bit. He had this confidence and awareness about him that I liked.
I was working at a photography gallery in San Anselmo at that time. It was May and I would leave the front door open. For that next week, on two occasions this guy rode past the gallery on his vintage cruiser and waved at me. I couldn't tell who it was, but it got my attention. The third time that guy on the bike came around, he walked into the gallery and we talked even more. He was nice, polite, inquisitive of me and he ended up buying 2 black and white photo- framed prints from the gallery. And that's the first time I learned about Steve's friends in Belgium - the prints he ended up sending to them. I had never met a more chivalrous guy and he still treats me like a Princess / Queen depending on my mood;)
The rest (as they say) is pretty much history. We have been together for 17 years and I can honestly say I love him even more today. We are both unique, very much our own person and have always done things in our own time. We feel truly blessed to have the life we do and to be sharing our special day with you.
